Bigotry: The Dark Danger

Responses in the Islamic world to Adnan Oktar's calls for brotherhood and union

Adnan Oktar's calls for brotherhood, union and alliance, which he emphasizes in public statements, are having a huge impact on the entire Muslim world. Prominent members of the Islamic world have recently been meeting on a frequent basis and stressing the need in these meetings for unity in the Islamic world. Another noteworthy element in these leaders'calls for unity is the pre-eminence given to moderation, love and tolerance, as Adnan Oktar emphasizes.

Announcements based on the works of Adnan Oktar set out the building of the Turkish-Islamic Union, in which all Muslims will be brothers, and describe it as a union of love and moderation:

The Turkish-Islamic Union is a union of love. It is a union of affection, a union of hearts. The basis of this union are love, altruism, helping others, compassion, tolerance and understanding. The aim of the union is also to achieve the highest levels in respect for human beings and in art, science and technology. Once the union is established, not just Turkish societies and Muslims, but the whole world, will attain enlightenment.

The Turkish-Islamic Union will bring peace to the world. The Turkish-Islamic Union will first and foremost resolve the disputes between Muslim countries and bring peace to the Islamic world; it will also oppose all those movements that incite war and conflict in the world as a whole, and will be a force capable of preventing all initiatives aimed at provoking war.

Union lies at the heart of Islamic moral values. In the Qur’an, Allah has revealed that in order for the corruption in the world to come to an end, believers must be one another’s friends, form an alliance and join together in a spirit of unity and union:

… If you do not act in this way [be the friends and protectors of one another] there will be turmoil in the land and great corruption. (Surat al-Anfal, 73)

The building of the Turkish-Islamic Union is essential if the bloodshed in the world, the anarchy and terror, are to come to an end, if well-being, peace and abundance are to reign in the Turkish-Islamic world, if the whole Muslim world is to attain security and if world peace is to be established.

Freedom of ideas and expression are inherent in the Turkish-Islamic Union. People holding all kinds of beliefs and views will be able to express their ideas free from pressure and obstruction. These people’s rights will be protected by all means and everyone’s ideas will be met with toleration. Under the leadership of the Turkish-Islamic Union, Muslim societies will be communities in which people respect one another’s views, communities will be dominated by equality, justice and freedom, and oppression and injustice will be banished. The Islamic world will not bring peace and security to Muslims alone, but will play a leading role in global culture and civilization.

At the International Islamic Conference for Dialogue on 6 June, 2008, Muslim leaders from different countries of the world and other eminent Islamic figures stressed the importance of union and unity and the urgent need for the founding of the Turkish-Islamic Union:

King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz of Saudi Arabia: In his opening address, the king noted that mankind was made up of different communities and peoples, and discussed the Prophet Muhammad's (saas) gentle way of treating others. He said that the Prophet (saas) had treated everyone very gently, taken an interest in everyone's problems and tried to help them.

Saudi Arabia's Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Alu Al Sheikh: In his address, Al Sheikh stressed the need to elevate human values and stated that we must establish good relations and protect human rights. He said that dialogue is virtue, morality, urbanity and communication.

Iran's former President Rafsanjani: Rafsanjani said that to communicate a powerful message, the Islamic community must be united. He stated that we are expending our strength on disputes amongst us, whereas we must establish a new contract among us, and that contract must be kept clear of disputes and be based on unity. He stressed the fact that we need dialogue to that end.

One of those who has recently drawn attention to the union of the Turkish-Islamic world is Great Union Party (BBP) leader Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu. "Let us establish higher bodies in the same way that the EU and the USA came to establish their unions," he said.

FROM ADNAN OKTAR'S INTERVIEW WITH BOSNA TV (June 3, 2008)

ADNAN OKTAR:
This [the Turkish-Islamic Union] is a bond of love, a bond of affection. It is a system based on protecting and embracing love and affection.

FROM ADNAN OKTAR'S INTERVIEW WITH KAÇKAR TV(February 2, 2008)

ADNAN OKTAR:
... There are intense activities for an Islamic Union and for a Turkish-Islamic Union. Excellent efforts are being made. Things are going well. They are going well in both directions.

KAÇKAR TV:
Let us say that in 10 or 15 years'time all countries in the world where Turks live, with a Turkish name, Turkish from one end to the other joined together. What kind of universal impact will it have? What will it plan? If they come together around a round table, what do you think should be the first subject they discuss?

ADNAN OKTAR:
Peace, brotherhood, love, industrialization, wealth, well-being, justice and putting an end to dispute.

FROM ADNAN OKTAR'S INTERVIEW WITH MPL TV (April 23,2008)

ADNAN OKTAR:
Everyone can keep their own state, but there must be a spiritual union. That is the Turkish-Islamic Union since all the Turkic countries are Muslim. This is huge element for equilibrium in the region. Its greatest advantage will be the immediate ending of terror. No such thing as terror will remain. Terror will be eradicated from the face of the Earth. Secondly, there will be an enormous economic revitalization. Most importantly, however, it will lead to peace and well-being. Everyone will be at ease, the atheist as well as the true believer.
