Bigotry: The Dark Danger

Letter from Turkey to Bangladesh

What He Said?What Happened?

A9 TV, November 28th, 2012

It was reported that the 91 year old leader Ghulam Azam of Jamaat-e-Islami was arrested while many other leaders are being tried with the prosecution seeking the death penalty against them. There are reports that our Muslim brothers and sisters there are being oppressed.

The government should send an ultimatum to Bangladesh, should warn them.  Then they would get themselves together. All means should be used to stop the oppression in Bangladesh. If that’s really the situation, if it is that out of control there, then the United Nations and all the countries in the world should take action and stand up for those people who are under a lot oppression.

“Also the Bangladesh government chose not to help our Arakan brothers and sisters that needed their help”.

We have to write to the UN, I’m asking our brothers and sisters to write lots of e-mails and letters to the UN. And the Turkish government should summon the Bangladeshi Ambassador and give an ultimatum. The Pakistani ambassador could also be talked to and we could talk to the Indian government as well.  Let’s send letters to them, we should get everyone moving. They should wake up to the oppression done by those people. We need more information on this. Let’s look into this in more detail, let’s keep a careful eye on them. Let’s send messages to our Foreign Affairs Minister, explain to him the situation.  I believe that he recently visited those countries, but I don’t know if these topics came up. Especially any prospect of executing that person is definitely unacceptable.

President Abdullah Gül sent an official letter to the state of Bangladesh and requested them to release the currently jailed Islamic leader on grounds of his old age. The letter that President Gül wrote to Bangladesh to prevent the leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami from being executed caused some diplomatic tension between the two countries.
